As your peers read your draft essay, write down at least two questions you have about your text. After your peers have finished reading your paper, ask them the three questions listed below and write down their answers. Keep in mind the requirements listed on the assignment sheet, and make sure to ask for clarification if you need it:
Feedback | The Writer’s Worksheet and Revision Plan
- Due at Midnight on
- Please follow this link to register your peer review group.
- Approximately 3-4 pages
- Includes:
- 1. Answers to the three questions from at least two (2) peers,
- 2. Revisions to your writer’s memo, including a discussion about the feedback you received during peer review, and

As your peers read your draft essay | ask your readers to consider your writer’s memo* and prepare to speak to the following questions
- What do you feel is the strongest and/or most interesting part of my essay?
- Was there anywhere in the essay where you were confused or wanted more information?
- What are two suggestions you have to help me make this essay stronger?
[Note | after receiving feedback from at least two peers, you are now in position to update your Writer’s Memo, including the fourth paragraph where you discuss suggestions your peers provided. *The suggestion that your peers also read your writer’s memo has newly been added to your ask].
Revision planning |
After the peer review session, look back over your written notes about your peers’ suggestions. Using their comments as a guide, develop a revision plan. Your plan should take into consideration the Writer’s Memo that you included with your first draft. The plan should outline what changes you plan to make to the paper, along with any new questions that have emerged from the peer response session. Please share your revision plan with Dr. Shutkin. In this way, you will earn credit for your Feedback posts this semester. The next step includes my review and assessment of your draft essay followed by further updates to your revision plan.
Topic and First Assignment | For the first essay assignment, you were asked to compose an argument analysis of the reading your LC selected. In your analysis, your intention was to identify and evaluate the primary claims the author(s) make and the evidence used to support those claims.
Criteria | Specific assessment criteria that you were to consider for your essay include:
- Focus on the presentation of the writer’s claims and evidence.
- Organize your paper.
- Use the templates and suggestions from Part 1 of They Say/I Say.
- Summarize the source text to demonstrate your understanding of the subject matter.
- Author a writer’s memo about your writing process.
- Use of APA style to identify the source text, other texts and in-line references.
