Build Your WebLog

When you have finished building your weblog, please share your it with me so I can view your page whenever I need to read a blog post or another assignment. Do this by sending me an email using the address that you want me to use to communicate with you. In this email, include the full address for your weblog.

Use the Following Specifications

  1. Please visit WordPress.com: http://wordpress.com
  2. Domain name: A domain name is what people type into their browser to visit your site. It MUST be one word or a series of words with NO SPACES. The Domain name for the ED386 website is dshutkin386 and the address is dshutkin386.wordpress.com.
  3. Title and tag your blog: My Sites >> Themes>>Customize>>Site Identity >> Site Title, Tagline [Please include your first name in your Site title]>> Save Settings
  4. Add an Icon picture: My Sites >>Settings>>>>General>>Site icon>> Save Settings ;
  5. Make your Blog public: My Sites >>Settings>>>>General>>Privacy>> Save Settings (However, there is no reason for you to compromise your comfort or privacy.  Choose to be as descriptive as you want.  Please do not include telephone numbers or home addresses, etc.)
  6. Add a Widget
    1. “Recent Posts”: My Sites >> Themes>>Customize>> Widgets>> Save Settings   (Select the widget and drag it to one of your sidebars or footer spaces, Edit the title to reflect the purpose for following the websites of your classmates).
    2. “Blogs I Follow”: My Sites >> Themes>>Customize>> Widgets>> Save Settings   (Select the widget and drag it to one of your sidebars or footer spaces, Select “grid” to include icon pictures, Edit the title to reflect the purpose for following the websites of your classmates).
  7. Control how and when you are notified: My Sites>>Settings>>Discussion>> Save Settings. Follow this path and read through the page to choose if you want to be notified every time someone in class changes their web site!
